Impacting and dehulling is an effective means of thorough hull removal in the seed preparation process which enables producing a high protein, low fibre meal after solvent extraction.
The sunflower seeds gravity fall through a series of impact dehullers, screeners, and aspirators for breaking the hull open and separating it from the meat.
The advantages of the Desmet Ballestra Impacting & Dehulling process are as follows:
- Maximizes hull removal via efficient impacting, screening and aspiration
- Reduces sunflower oil losses in hulls by using a two-stage aspiration process and recycling whole seeds back to the impact dehullers
- Reduces operational and maintenance costs by using a vertical layout that minimizes conveyors
