Introduction
The oil drying unit is designed to remove water in the oil coming from battery limit thus making it suitable for the transesterification process.
This unit is strictly required when the moisture content in the feed oil exceeds 0,02%.
Advantages
The advantages of Desmet Oil Drying Unit are mainly two:
The feed oil is let free of water which has a negative impact on the following transesterification reaction making the catalyst inactive.
The dried oil is fed to the transesterification unit at the reaction operating temperature (62-64°C).
