Our North America headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia has an immediate new opening for a talented, innovative and client-focused Technical Sales Engineer who can play a key role in driving our growth to maintain our premier worldwide status.


Job Summary
Reporting to the DBNA Sales Manager, the Technical Sales Engineer will assist in the sales and business development activities within North, Central and South America, selling tailor-made engineering and procurement solutions to meet our clients’ needs.  The services cover each step of the edible oils and fats processing industry from oilseed preparation and extraction to oil processing plants including refining and fat modification processes, as well as oleochemicals and biodiesel technologies.  In this highly technical role, the incumbent will be expected to offer technical expertise to customers and work with other internal departments and suppliers to ensure innovative and efficient process design and implementation of new, customized sales initiatives.  

The Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for executing strategies that deliver against goals, ensure consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues, increase awareness and relevance within our customer base and encourage DBNA’s continuous pursuit of earning customer confidence. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support DBNA’s strategic vision and implement sales plans to meet defined goals; provide technical expertise to customers; actively uphold a superior level of customer service with existing and potential customers.
  • Develop and implement target account strategies and sales plans to identify potential business leads to capture competitively held business to increase market share.
  • Establish and grow relationships with current and target customers to contribute to achieving the company’s financial objectives.
  • Implement sales processes for customer relationship management and sales pipeline management including prospecting, qualifying, proposing, etc.
  • Make cold calls, respond to inquiries, identify, qualify, contact, and close new deals from interested leads and potential customers and expand business within existing customer accounts.
  • Work with the Process Engineer to design and implement innovative solutions specific to the customer’s unique requirements, to define the proposals and size equipment.
  • Participate in revenue forecasting, work with Sales Manager on project pricing.
  • Negotiate final equipment contracts.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports, progress updates, and customer communications.
  • Prepare quotations, deliver proposals, maintain pricing integrity, follow up on pending quotes and maintain client relationships.
  • Remain current on industry developments and emerging trends; visit Desmet Ballestra Oils and Fats and Oleochemical technology offices in Brussels and other offices for technology updates.
  • Respond promptly to rapidly changing customer requests and resolve product and service conflicts.
  • Organize industry trade show participation and presentations.
  • Travel up to 50% will be required to generate sales and business development growth, to visit other Desmet Ballestra global offices, vendors and/or suppliers and strategic partners, and to attend trade shows and other networking events.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years of demonstrated process engineering or technical sales experience, preferably in vegetable oil processing, or related industries.
  3. Ability to open closed doors, identify, develop and implement technical solutions that will guarantee high customer satisfaction necessary; track record of industry sales achievements with understanding of customer and market dynamics preferred.
  4. Sound understanding and thorough knowledge of engineering and chemistry principles, chemical process design and engineering techniques, and their creative application on-the-job.
  5. Working knowledge of and experience in edible oil and fats processing industry, understanding of industry compliance guidelines and expectations preferred.
  6. Self-starter with ability to work and achieve goals independently and efficiently as well as be a strong collaborative partner.
  7. Enthusiastic customer service orientation with demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and foster trust and cooperation among co-workers, customers and suppliers.
  8. Ability to think strategically and critically, influence decisions and actions, drive for results in order to meet or exceed objectives.
  9. Strong problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills and be able to handle several tasks concurrently.
  10. English fluency with excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and effective listening skills and appropriate interpersonal skills to resolve conflict necessary.
  11. Proficiency in Spanish a plus.
  12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and Power Point.
  13. Expertise in technical writing preferred; project management experience a plus.
  14. Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. DBNA will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
